Start and maintain a conversation without making response times an obligation.
Begin with something you have read
A greeting can be simple and personal: mention an interest from the profile and add an open question. Asking about a hobby is a better starting point than making assumptions about someone's body or intimate life. Being trans does not oblige anyone to explain their history or answer personal questions.
Leave space between messages
People organize their time differently. A late reply does not tell you why someone has not answered. Avoid sending repeated messages or demanding explanations. If the conversation develops, mention when you tend to be online. Explaining your availability is more useful than setting deadlines the other person has not agreed to.
Notice whether the exchange is mutual
Conversation makes room for asking, listening and sharing. If only one person is sustaining the exchange, you can let it rest. When there is interest, suggest talking another day or meeting for a simple date. Accept a refusal or no response without insisting: nobody owes continued conversation out of politeness.
